Overview
The Site Manager position is one of the most important ones in a construction site in UK. You will need a Black Level 6 CSCS NVQ Card for that and from start to finish of every project you will have a pivotal role to ensure the safety of the workers.
Who is it addressed to?
The Site Manger Card offers the opportunity to people with experience as a supervisor in the construction industry to make a step up in the career by becoming a Site Manger.
The responsabilities of a site manger may be different, depending on the organisation you are working in and also the project you are working on. Because of this, this position is oftenly also called Project Manager or Construction Manager. A site manager is responsible for overseeing the management of on-site operations. You will have veavy involvment in planning in prepartion of the project, working on design and site reports.
In comparison with a supervisor, Managers will focus on the ‘bigger picture’ of the project and the organization. Their responsability is to make sure that the project is completed on time and within budget. Depending on the person, managers might be more or less involved in day-to-day staff magement.
NVQ Qualifications
- What are the requirements to get a Black CSCS card?
There are two main pieces of evidence which most organisations require from their Site Managers:
• CSCS Black Card
• Site Management Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS)
Both qualifications show a high level of knowledge and experience of working on-site in a management position.
